STORY OF A NATURAL HOSTESS

I was born and raised in Orihuela, in the province of Alicante. There we used to have big get-togethers with family and friends where the star was always great food and good wine. Since I was a child, I’ve loved treating others with our homemade recipes, which have always been a hit. I’m lucky to come from a family of great cooks, both on my father’s side and my mother’s. We never had a restaurant, but we loved the experience of cooking for others.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Time went by and I studied and worked in different places that had nothing to do with catering: banking, consultancy, real estate, etc., but my dream lived on. What’s more, every time I renovated a house I was going to live in, I always made sure it had a bar and endless tables to accommodate everybody!

And then, when I had my own estate agency, a client asked me to find a restaurant at the beach. At the time, I was already living in Mojácar. There were a few options, not many; restaurants in this area are in high demand and offers were in short supply. One day somebody told me that, for a suitable price, the beach bar Neptuno might be for sale. So, never one to miss a trick, I thought this one’s for me and I went for it. It was a place I already knew and I loved it.

Words cannot describe the special feeling I had the day we took possession. I sat on the steps leading to the beach and I was filled with the pride that only a place like this can give you. This Mediterranean aroma, the sound of the waves, the landscape with the moon in the background will stay in my heart forever.

AND NOW ...

SEVENTEEN YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE THAT DAY.

Now I run it alone, and I have a thousand exciting projects for Neptuno, which has been nurtured and has grown and matured during this time. It has turned into a beautiful, elegant and welcoming place. Talent has improved one hundred percent. The food has changed to homemade, local Mediterranean recipes, respecting our products and the environment. It is the pride a mother feels watching her baby grow up.

Its special radiance has attracted different Spanish and international gastronomy sectors, which have recognised Neptuno as a benchmark in the area, giving it special mentions in the media and awarding it countless prizes.

Both myself and the family we have become at Neptuno will carry on working to keep our standards high and serve our customers and friends for many years to come.
